short and sweet:
okay, to day was our first visit to the jacksonville beach in hopes of expressing boldness in our faith by sharing the bridge illustration with men and women on the beach.
we use a one-verse illustration in order to outline and explain the gospel in simple terms - easy to use and easy to understand (for the most part). we use the following verse: Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
if you could, please join me in prayer for the four women we spoke with today: Briana and Katelyn (not very receptive to the illustration or conversation - but a seed was planted! Praise God!), and Briana and Joslyn (sisters who are already believers but were encouraged by our faith to hopefully make bold moves in the future to share with others what has touched their lives).

hey all,
we have officially arrived! okay, yesterday. but now we have arrived not only physically but in the form of an internet connection :) so now it’s official!
thank you all for your prayers thus far, and I have a few suggestions we’ve come up with as our first day of team leader orientation has progressed:
- that we may be humble of heart
- that we may be united in love and take steps to initiate our love and good deeds toward our brothers and sisters
- that we may take initiative in reaching the depths of understanding to which the Lord makes available. no slacking in bible study but instead a drive to grow exponentially in knowledge
Tomorrow, we team leaders are taking the first steps in setting an example for our team members by going to the beach and taking part in “initiative evangelism” as we willingly open our hearts and mouths to the glory of God by the sharing of his Good News. — *prayers please for courage to approach our lost brothers and sisters as well as grace in our conversations with them
In < 2 days, I will be leaving with a handful of other UNL students for the 1 1/2-day trip from Omaha, Nebraska, to Jacksonville, Florida.
Porque?
We will be only a fraction of approximately 150 Midwest college kids who signed up for the most intense spiritual training of our college careers. We will be living in Jacksonville for 2 months :) And while we’re there, we will be sipping from the largest spiritual fire-hose ever: seeking and searching to strengthen our relationship with God to last for the long-term.
I will be updating this-here blog as the summer progresses.
Enjoy :)
get ready, folks. 22 hours from now, I will be in Omaha. 36 hours from now, I will be leaving Omaha toward our one and only overnight stop in Tennessee. 50 [or so] hours from now, we’ll be leaving Tennessee for the bustling land of Jacksonville :)
fun fact: I may have possibly over-packed for the mere 60 days from home. 1 large blue duffel. 1 large red suitcase. 1 plastic hamper filled with towels, bedding and such. I like to be prepared.
11 days before we leave for the land of humidity and tan lines.
Jacksonville, here we come!
